I have one visitor that has problems accessing a specific file on my server. Is it possible to track / log all his activities via my Abyss webserver ?
The trigger could be his IP-address.
Perhaps I can see what he is trying to do, which gives no response. |

There is no such function, but you could either use PHP or add every other IP to the "Do not log request from" list (link).
Or you could simply search your log after his IP in any text editor. |

O.k. Thank you.
Perhaps there was a monitoring tool so that you could see what 's happening "on the fly". But I will keep a look at my logs. |

As far as I know, Aprelium is working on developing such a tool. I would love to see Abyss work with a syslog server. |

hansmiv, do you have PHP installed - or Perl?
You can search your logfile for a certain IP address. It will display all lines of your logfile that contain the phrase you input.
Here's the code for the PHP version --> http://code-bin.homedns.org/27
usage: find-phrase.php?phrase=24.145.130.71&file=c:/progra~1/abyssw~1/log/access.log _________________ Stephen

Thank you for your reaction. I indeed use php. The script you mention would make life a lot easier. It will help me much.
I will give it a try ...
Thanks again.
EDIT: Am I right that you made this script especially to answer my question ???? |

Hehe...
No, I made the script awhile ago. I have used it to check for IP addresses before. But I did just post it to The Code-Bin to help you, though. :)
Glad to be able to help!
BTW, it's off-topic, but how does The Code-Bin look in Opera? I've not tested it in this browser. _________________ Stephen

Uh, no problem. I checked it, it is exactly the same as in MSIE and in Firefox. |

Stephen,
Simple but effective, your script works out-of-the-box. Great job.
Just one question. Perhaps it is a good idea to protect the script for abuse with a password or so ?
Now everyone who find this script can make a query on my logfile. |

This could be done with a protected file/folder being set up in the abyss console. _________________ Andy (AbyssUnderground) (previously The Inquisitor)
