Hello All:

I have an electronic system that upgrades its firmware by specifying the http address to where it can find the file for firmware upgrade. the file is a .bin file. recently I am not able to connect to that server so I could not upgrade the electronic system. However, I was able to download the file, and figured if I can create a server on my computer, and connect to it, I would be able to upgrade the system. I have installed Abyss, and was able to view the default website after forwarding the ports. The problem is that I don't know what to do from this point on , I am assuming that i need to create "virtual path" to this file, but have no Idea how. could anybody suggest a web site that out give me insight that might assist me with this.

thank you in advance

Just put your .bin file in in the htdocs folder, which can be found in the Abyss installation path, usually C:/program files/abyss web server/htdocs and it will be shared by the server.

Create an Alias to where the .bin file is located and point the computer to that HTTP address.

Example:

Alias: /folder
Real Path: C:\Bin\file.bin

URL: http://www.your-site.com/folder/file.bin

If you don't have a domain name, use http://localhost/file.bin
Otherwise, you can use the server's internal IP address http://192.168.1.xxx/file.bin from your local network

You can also use your external IP address, provided you have port 80 open and properly configured to forward to your server.
