Hi. I'm trying to setup MS Access with my Abyss Web Server X1.
But I can't seem to get it working.

I got a tip that I needed to install IIS on my server, but it still doesn't work..

Does anyone know how to install it "correct" way.
Get in into Abyss Web Server (like PHP and ASP).

Thanks in advance.

esset,

Web servers do not "talk" to databases directly. You need a script to do that. Access is supported by most scripting languages (such as ASP, PHP, Perl, etc) through the ODBC interface. So you'll have to use/write a script that opens the database and uses it (and using IIS won't do any magic, you'll still a script to get data from the database and format it).

Please read http://www.aprelium.com/abyssws/faq.html#A3-2 for more information.

Yes I know that, and already have a script that should work.
But what is required of the server for "me" to execute commands that connect to the access database.
Do you understand my problem/question?

Well if you want to directly interface with the DB you need a GUI (Graphical User Interface) to do that, I used phpmyadmin (www.phpmyadmin.net) since i used MySQL as a database. For MS Access it should come with a GUI (or at bare minimum a command line interface) If not search Google for one.

Okay, I think I understand now. It seems to be working. I tried another script that uses Access, and it seems to work. Thank you for your help anyway :)

Hi,

This seems to be exactly what I'm seeking. I can't seem to get it to connect to my database. It continues to say that the database name is too long, which it most certainly is not. Has anyone else experienced this issue?

Regards,

Ross Taylor
