Hiya.

Im new to abyss. I am using X1 version.

I would like to use the server on a pc which connects to the internet through a belkin router. My ISP block 80 so I have setup my default web server (on the machine to be used as a webserver) to go through port "8080" thats all.

All I have done is started up the web server and set its port to 8080.

I have a belin router.

What do I do now?

From Mark

m1rkd1rk, welcome to the forums. :)

The first thing you should do is look thru the official documentation...
http://www.aprelium.com/data/doc/2/abyssws-win-doc-html/index.html
to get the basics of how Abyss works.

Then, for good measure, check out the FAQ's for any common questions...
http://www.aprelium.com/abyssws/faq.html

After that, if you have any problems at all, come to these forums and we'll
do the best we can to help.

As far as the Belkin router is concerned, go to PortForward.com to learn how
to portforward your port for 8080 to work.

Hello, thanks very much for your reply.

I have done as PortForward has said.

127.0.0.1:8080 works fine

198.162.2.3:8080 doesent (that adress is my inboud network adress the router uses) I tried it on my dads pc with no luck.

Is this supposed to be a TCP or UDP connection?

Also, my ISP (NTHell aka NTL) has put us through a proxy which gives us 2 IP adresses, well according to whatsmyipadress.com it is:

Proxy Server IP address: 62.253.96.45
Proxy Server Details: winn-cache-5.server.ntli.net
Proxy Reports IP as: 82.3.208.100 (unable to confirm)

I belive NTL has blocked port 80, for some unkown reason so I didnt use that.

Any ideas?

The only computer which has an IP outside of my network is at school!

NTL does not block port 80. I have NTL and use it to run all my sites.

Go to www.abyssunderground.co.uk/ip to distinguish between your real ip and the proxy ip.

My pc is currently turned off at the moment so it will not display anything

I will now post in the appropriate forum about installing MySQL and PHP and all that jazz.

Thanks once again.

I turned my PC on, ran Abyss, only to find it has stopped working!

Router is on, Modem is on, Main PC (connected to modem and router) is ON.

All configuration is, as set last night.

Can somebody help me try and locate the problem?

Here are some screenshots which might help you:

Thanks.

Nope, still cant access it.

127.0.0.1:8080 works!

I cant think of any other firewalls that may block it.

Windows firewall is turned OFF, and port 8080 is meant to be open as far as I know. This could be a port fowarding error as far as I know, but its set correctly.

http://82.3.208.100:8080/ is working perfectly!

You can get a free subdomain name at http://www.dyndns.com/services/dns/dyndns/.
They also have an update client that syncs your external IP address with the subdomain --> http://www.dyndns.com/support/clients/.

Joki, your quote says you're running Abyss on port 8080,
but your screenshot says you're running it on 8001.

These need to be the same.

Do you have another firewall running? (not the router firewall)
If you do, disable it and retry your site.

How many Abyss processes are running in Windows' Task Manager?
If there are more than 2, kill them all and restart Abyss.

Otherwise...
Download and run CurrPorts to see what is using that port.
http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/cports.html

Once you find it, kill it.
Or use another port that isn't being used.

My advice.

Uninstall abyss.

Install abyss.

When you get to the config screen, do your password, it should say default host on port 80. Click configure and then parameters, change port to 8080.

Now go to your router settings and delete all the port fowarding entries. Then in the first one, tick enable and in all the port boxes type 8080. Click save and it should work.

Whats the network IP adress of your computer on the network?

Right click wireless network icon in task bar ---> click Status ---> Click support ---> tell me what it says after IP adress.

Manually set your IP address. This will prevent DHCP from assigning different IPs to your laptop after restarts.

See this info --> http://stephen.calvarybucyrus.org/redirect.php?page=manual_IP

Having a static lan IP will give you 1 less headache when troubleshooting your problem.
It eliminates the hastle of repeatedly configuring your router every time it's restarted.

Hello again, after a long time i decided to try and get my Server working. I got it running again, in my home network. Could it be my isp that is blocking my server? Because even when i get into DMZ mode it still wont work.

192.168.2.10 is my network ip on port 8080
217.210.249.39 is my outbound on port 8080

Yes it is likely that they are blocking port 80.

If you can't make games either that pretty much confirms it. Yes look for a new ISP :-) Try to get one you know allows servers (maybe start a new topic and ask people?)

Hmmmm, this is really confusing. I phoned my isp and asked them and they said the did not block any ports. i also asked on another forum about my isp and no one else had these problems with the same ISP.

Hm.

It seems unusual that they would block 8080 and not 80... Weird.
