Well, yeah. The thing is, I need it for only one purpose: To recieve mails sent to my ip address. As simple as that. I don't need no pop3/smtp stuff, no domain name/dns/mx hassles, no postboxes, forwards, lan, multi-user/account, no nothing!

Say someone sends a mail to dexter@<my ip address> then the program should pick it up. I've tried all the mail servers mentioned in this forum, and not only were they too complicated for my purpose, I couldn't manage to get them to work. Oh, I don't want it as some service I have to pay for, must be software based. I don't get it, I mean Abyss works out of the box, why can't a very simple basic mail server do the same?

I've searched the net but I'm unable to find a suitable mail server. Almost every one out there is bloated with features I don't have any use for, and in the end, I'm unable to set it up.

So does someone know any such mail server out there?

Regards,
dex

hMailServer is the simplest you will find. You MUST set up POP and SMTP otherwise how will you get your mail?

If you want help setting it up, add me on MSN then PM me and Ill come online ASAP.

Thanks for the reply. I did take a look at it earlier though, and it seemed nice, until I came to this line:

"E-mail data is stored in a database server, MySQL or MS SQL"

I forgot to mention that this comp the mail server will be running is an old P2, can't afford to run a database server. Besides, SQL brings with it its own set of connectivity problems :(

It runs its own database. It installs it and configures it at install. It should run fine on that spec pc. I had it running on a P1 166MHz just great.
