"Doesn't work" is too vague. Can you be more precise and tell us what that "doesn't work" mean? What error message do you get for example? We cannot guess what's on your computer, so help us to help you. _________________ Support Team

Sorry about that. I guess your right. Well I downloaded it and then it said a .dll was missing. I downloaded it off the net. 3 More were missing and I downloaded them as well. Then it said that kernal was missing and php.exe was linking to a dead link of it. Thats when I assumed it doesn't work on Win95 |

Try posting that question on th php.net forum or contact their support. PHP works on Win95 but I guess that there are some components that need to be there. _________________ Support Team

Hmm, what Dlls were missing by chance, you may need to download a service pack from windows update or something.
Also, use the PHP binaries, ive never had troubles with them, but ive had quite a few problems with the windows installer. |

I use XP but I use my old win95 comp for a serer.
Every time I try php I get this message:
Quote: | The PHP.exe file is linked to missing export KERNEL32.dll:Cancello |
Instead of using the php.exe file, is there a way for me to use the sapi file with abyss? |

That error you get is an issue related to PHP. So contact php.net support for more information about it. It has nothing to do with Abyss Web Server. _________________ Support Team

I have had the same problem. Just find a PC running win98SE or WinME (but not 98, NT, 2000 or XP), look for files named odbc in C:\ using StartMenu/Find/Files or folders, (do not forget to check include subfolders). You'll see 22 or 23 files - most of them in C:\windows\system and one in c:\windows. Zip all of them directly from the Find window. Then extract them on your win95 system (keeping correct paths). That's all. PHP will run with no problems. |

:) TRY THIS LITTLE TRICK FOR WIN95:
1. Download and intalls PHP 4.3.0.
2. Download and unzip PHP 4.2.3.
3. In the PHP folder installed by PHP 4.3.0, replace the files with the PHP4.2.3 files. Please note that this will replace php.exe(version4.3.0) with php.exe(version4.2.3). But don't worry because this is the TRICK I'm talking about.
4. Configure your server according Aprelium Instruction Guide for PHP support on Windows.
That's all!!!! It should be working.
THANKS and ENJOY!!!!!!! |

I experienced the same bug on win95 with php.4.0.3. The result is an error message, the problem is kernel32.dll. Php4 tries to call a routine from kernel32.dll which does not exists in win95 kernel32.dll.
The following www.geocrawler.com/archives/3/254/2003/1/0/10305434/
tells that php version (4.2.3) works correctly. :!:

PHP 4.3.8 does not support Win95. According to http://www.php.net/downloads.php "All Windows binaries can be used on Windows 98/Me and on Windows NT/2000/XP/2003. "
Support for Win95 support was dropped starting from PHP 4.3.0 ( http://www.php.net/windows ). _________________ Beta Testing Team

If you read the tech bits or did at the time, if you win95 had all service packs and updates and you installed IE6 inplace of IE5.5, you basically have a win98 machine, theirs only a small difference in capability which is in the DirectX arena and I had to upgrade if I wanted to use the latest music software that I use to write my tunes with. |

senshi,
Yes, but there are still some missing API calls in Win95 (that were added in Win98) and a lot of problems with COM and ActiveX stuff. The missing APIs is what makes PHP not work on Win95. _________________ Beta Testing Team

When it comes to networking Win95/98 and ME are similar. _________________ Beta Testing Team

You don't require a cgi-bin with Abyss Web Server with your PHP scripts. |
