Ok here is my problem. I can not veiw my website outside of my router ip. I can be though veiwed by everyone inside the network. I downloaded a program called cports to see what was using port 80 and I did find out. I was my Firefox browser because it was using a static ip address from firefore's website. So I I un-installed Firefox, and restarted my computer. Abyss auto started up and still the same problem but my homepage was using port 80 so I changed it to my ip address. It didnt load so I ran a whois on my ip address and I got this so it maybe my modem:

If you have a router you will need to configure it for port forwarding. Use www.portforward.com to help you.

I also did that and I think I found the problem but I dont know how to get it. My DNS server ip was not listed and I dont know how to find out.

EDIT: THe DNS server in my listing above says its NS.BELLSOUTH.NET and I did some research and got this ip address 68.222.217.253 but I am not sure that it is the correct ip to use. Is there a way to find out the right one?

Okay I did that and I use a belkin router (Belkin F5D7231-4 v2000)
I when into my settings under DMZ and selected my network ip number and enabled it. Then I went into my virtual server setings and here is what I put:
Quote:
description Private port Ip Address Inbond Ports
1. Abyss Web Server 80 - 80 192.168.2.3 80 - 80
2. Abyss Web Server 1024 - 1024 192.168.2.3 1024 - 1024

I did what portforwarding told me to do. When I went to portfowarding I chose Belkin F5D7231-4. They didnt have my 'version' listed so I just chose F5D7231-4 and the software that I went in a did was Apache. I did have the suggested ports that they told me to do then and they didnt work. So I though with my server running on port 1024 I went and changed my settings to the first and second as you see above in my router settings virtual servers.
Can anyone help me please?!

rayon.

You need to know where your NS is for your domain name. Like what domain name or sub-domain are you planning to use for the WAN connection? This name here "NS.BELLSOUTH.NET" looks like the NS for your ISP, that is not necessarily the same thing! That would be the server that handles your normal internet activity! You need your domain name and IP address listed on another table of your own DNS server to handle your server directly.

Do a whois on the domain name not the IP address, then you may find out where the name servers are held for your site name.

I am not to sure about why you would need both port 80 and 1024 open. You should be able to use one or the other, unless you need two servers running simultaneously or a mail server, then you may need to use both.

Your isp may be blocking port 80. Try another port.

I tried to access it and can not!!!!

Did you try allowing that IP in your server allowed IP's Control Panel. I just looked at the panel and it almost looks like your range of address is not in the ranges that are listed in my server. Kind of hard to tell for sure...

I think that I solved the problem. And this may help a lot of people.

You know how everyone has to change up their routers and stuff well that is not alway the case. Before I went into my modem settings using internet explorer. I was not able to view http://localhost/ What I did was I switched to expert mode and went to configurations then I went to NAT configuration. There was a list of thing that uses ports and you can select more than one but one at a time; at least that was with me. I selected HTTP and HTTPS. As everyone knows port 80 is for HTTP and Port 443 is for HTTPS for secure pages. Well Those two are select and can someone please tell me that is works? Here is my hosting ip:

rayon.

I still can not get to your site with that address!

Go to this site and get your external IP address (WAN).

http://www.whatismyip.com/

Then type ipconfig or ipconfig/all in a command prompt window to get your internal IP address (LAN).

Then make sure in your router settings that the port number points to the internal IP address!

It would look something like 80-80 tcp 192-168.x.x in your router configuration. Or, if your using a different port to forward in the router than 1024-1024 tcp 192.168.x.x

Try downloading port detective it will tell what ports are open if any

ftp://ftp.portdetective.com/pdsetup.exe

The results maybe firewalled related so make sure you have these ports added to your allowed firewall list.

It also works for me - http://74.244.145.17/. Congrats.

PS I didn't notice if you've done this yet, but you'll want to set up your server with a static internal IP address. If it's assigned by the DHCP server on your router, it can change. If it changes, your site will be down until you update your port forwarding page.

You can find more info about static IP's for WinXP at http://stephen.calvarybucyrus.org/redirect.php?page=manual_IP.
