You shouldn't. The only thing to be careful of is that their ports are clashing. For example, abbyss on my PC runs on port 80 and the admin interface is on 9999. If i installed Apache I would have to make sure it wasn't using 80 or 9999 for anything. |

Apache is the most useless webserver ever invented. I wouldn't bother. There isnt much Apache can do that Abyss can't do as well. _________________ Andy (AbyssUnderground) (previously The Inquisitor)

As soon as you stop Abyss your site goes offline. Downtime for me is never an option where it can be avoided. It should be the same for you as well. _________________ Andy (AbyssUnderground) (previously The Inquisitor)

my site isnt really on the internet net yet. its just a place for me to practise my php and MySQL for now once i get everything ready then downtime sucks for me too. i'll just forget trying to figure out stupid apache.
is there anyway to make abyss into a secure webserver. i'm still learning with this webserver thing but i read you can put 128bit encryptionnot sure if it works with abyss |

If you truly wish to run Apache alongside Abyss, they must run on different ports at the least.
I wouldn't recommend Apache unless you know exactly why you need it. |

You don't need SSL unless your handling credit cards. SSL is a system built to
prevent Identity theft over the internet. Only the Enterprise use it.
To put it short, SSL encrypts the data being sent to the server. |

If you want to try using SSL, you could use STunnel in conjunction with Abyss Web Server. Search for STunnel in this forum for more information about how to do so. _________________ Support Team

I suppose it is worth a try.
If it turns out that it doesn't work, just dump Apache. _________________ The FunkyToad Network
