fedora core is really nice. I have used it before, and with the gnome desktop enviroment its as easy as using windows, just its not windows. Its very easy to setup. It also comes with a powerful webserver.
It was made by RedHat because they felt their software was becomming too commercailized and they wanted to make an os true to the idea that is linux.

I would choose anything Debian. Like "Ubuntu" or CoLinux.
FC may be worth more on the job because business has a hard on for Red Hat stuff. |

its very diffrent than redhat...alot diffrent. But, if I had a computer running FC right now I wouldn't be using FC. FC's web server is very nice, and is easy to use. _________________

Stick to Debian or anything Debian-like. Debian is the most used distro out there and is pretty easy to get working.
If you like GUI, then I recommend these distros;
Simply Mepis (Debian based)
Ubuntu (Debian Based)
Kubuntu (Like Ubuntu, but with KDE instead of Gnome) |

Initially, why not go for VMWare player plus one of the free Linux images? You can get used to Linux whilst remaining in Windows.
VMWare Player

Ubuntu VMWare Image (500mb)

There are also plenty of smaller distros around if you just want something to play around with before taking the plunge. _________________
