Well thank you Captain Obvious. If you'd have searched this site for Sourceforge + Abyss you'd have found it had been mentioned and explained plenty of times before... _________________

Could someone with knowledge of C turn the source code into an executable and make it available for download? _________________ Stephen

I was looking for a Windows port. Would you be able to do this, moogle81?
BTW, your site - http://www.usefree.tk/ - returned this:

The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to the site owner reaching his/her bandwidth limit. Please try again later.

I've compiled the *nix-version of Abyss Web Server 0.3 under Cygwin. You may download it here. (Yes, you can run it on Windows) |

cmxflash, could you explain how to use this program? I'm assuming you have ran it on your computer.
I ran the .exe file in a command prompt (WinXP Home) and it went back to a prompt after a brief session of loading. It didn't do anything, though.
I assume I need a default, simple configuration file. Could you provide one? Also, what is the "h" parameter? Is this a port number?
The command is Code: | abyss [-h] [-c configuration file] |
Thanks for porting this to Windows! _________________ Stephen

I didn't port it to Windows, Cygwin did. All I have to do is to start abyss.exe and enter 127.0.0.1 in Firefox, and the page will show up. I tried this package on a fresh install of Windows XP (reinstalled today) and it run without any problems.
Anyway, I've added the default configration file to the ZIP-package.
(Just remember to keep the config file Unix-style, since it's running under Cygwin)
Edit:
I've recompiled it, fixed the configuration file and made it ready to use out of the box.
The only thing you'll need to edit is to replace 'User kisom' with your own username (the one you're signed in on Windows) in abyss.conf.

Awesome! It works. Thanks!
BTW, to start the server, one must type "start.bat", not just "start" at the command prompt.
Also, my own computer does not have a username. I just commented that line out and all works well! _________________ Stephen

I created the BAT-files so you simply would be able to open them in Windows Explorer. |

Thanks cmxflash,
I will probably put this up for download on the new TRUSTAbyss.com when it's
ready, if that's ok with Aprelium. I had to modify the abyss.conf a little to get
the default index file to show up properly.
The version I would release would include all the original files, and of course
credits go to you for your efforts for compiling a Windows version of the very
first Abyss Web Server. Perfect for my new website! |

We have no objections. Since Abyss 0.3 has an open source license, you are fully allowed by its license to do that. _________________ Support Team
