Hi there Aprelium.

I'm a little curious about your specs...
From HTTP headers, you're running Abyss on Linux.

What are the specs for your server (CPU, memory...)?
What connection do you have to the internet? Do you have dedicated hosting from a company or do you host your own site?
What software do you have installed (mySQL, Perl, PHP...)?

Thanks.

To readers, please feel free to post your Abyss server specs.
My Abyss server specs are located at http://calvarybucyrus.org/server/server.htm

I can answer this one.

Its hosted on a server in a datacentre.

The server is around 2GHz with probably 512-1GB of RAM Im unsure. Its either 10 or 100Mbps connection. I beleive they only have PHP and MySQL installed but others will be available as its a root access server.

I asked the same question a while back but by e-mail. Aprelium will be able to give you exact specs.

aprelium.com is hosted on a dedicated server located in a datacenter:
* AMD Duron 1.6 GHz
* 256 MB of memory
* 80 GB Hard disk
* Full duplex 10 Mbps connection to the Internet
* Linux

Even if the spec is very low, the server's load never exceed a few percents and the memory is sufficient.

Our web site is powered Abyss X2, PHP and MySQL. But we use other languages such as Python and Perl for automated maintenance tasks.

Ah OK :-) Its just buggy compared to the newer one. You can change the colours if you liked them from the old version.

My servers specifications are the same as aprelium's. (Same provider I believe, although not intentionally.)

I also co-own a server located in Redbus Interhouse's London datacentre.
It's a 3Ghz IP4, with 1Gb of RAM and a 100mbps connection to the internet.

I only really use the perl and php scripting languages. Both my servers run Apache 2.0.x and MySQL 5.x.
I don't think any further detail is relevant.

Well when i first stumbled across ABYSS i was running my server on a gaming computer.

Ill give you the short version of its ability (FAST)lol there you go

But now im on

Gatewaste

E-1800

Intel(R) Celeron(TM) 1200MHz

382MB RAM

DSL equal to T1 speed

I have been getting alot of good reports about its load times still waiting to test downloading from it outside my office lan so i can decide if to host the downloads or have them off server location!

At home:
Abyss X1 as service
Windows XP (Linux Ubuntu on virtual machine, sometimes on)
AMD Athlon 1.4GHz 1700+ XP
512 MB RAM
200 GB HDs (80+80+40)
Poorly performing 384kbps ADSL
uTorrent eating up more 50% of bandwidth
Heat eating up the lifespan of CPU @ 50 deg C and HDs @ 42 deg C
Serves digital media, projects, fun stuff, mostly obfuscated
Bedroom-hosted, easy access near the toilet but very far from downstairs fridge (*sigh*)

At work, PC1, my assigned machine:
Abyss X1 as service
Windows XP Pro (Linux Ubuntu on virtual machine, almost never on)
Intel Pentium IV 1.8 GHz
512 MB RAM (256 MB of which is personal)
120 GB HDs (40x3, 80 GB or 40x2 of which is personal)
Serves digital media, projects, fun and kinky stuff to drooling colleagues, higher management and subordinates
3rd-world government office cubicle table-hosted, easy access to the fridge but far from the toilet, table looks like a freaking war zone

At work, PC2, a hijacked server machine:
Abyss X1 as service
Windows XP Pro
Intel Pentium IV 1.6 GHz
512 MB RAM
120 GB HDs (40+80)
Serves digital media (movies, will not classify which kind) to drooling and abusive colleagues, higher management and subordinates; you give everything for free and yet they still demand more than they deserve (*sigh*, just like what I'm doing with Abyss?)
Open area table-hosted, no easy access to civilization except an occasional guitar that somebody brings over
Will most likely get my ass kicked if discovered by "serious" management

At work in the very near future, PC3, a server machine for official research and project purposes but still internal only:
Specs not determined yet.

Hmm... maybe I should really consider now paying for an X2. But, will Aprelium allow me to use it on multiple machines?
