I just got another PC and I was going to use it as a dedicated MySQL server but Im having a small problem I cannot figure out (unlike me to not figure it out!).
Server 1: Main webserver
Server 2: Dedicated MySQL server
Whenever I try to connect to the MySQL server on server 2 using server 1 I get the error "#1130 - Host 'WEBSERVER' is not allowed to connect to this MySQL server".
Ive searched high and low for an option to allow external hosts to connect to the server but it simply wont allow it.
Any ideas? _________________ Andy (AbyssUnderground) (previously The Inquisitor)

I dont know HOW to allow access from all hosts. Thats the problem Im having.
I had a look at that thread but it looks like the command line bit is for linux seeing how most webservers are linux based these days.
EDIT: Managed to sort it out. I added "WEBSERVER" as a host in MySQLAdmin and it seems to work now. I just need to get everything set up as it was when it was on localhost. _________________ Andy (AbyssUnderground) (previously The Inquisitor)

Use % as a wildcard for the hostname.
Also most things for MySQL under *nix will work for windows. _________________

Ive managed to sort this problem out now by adding the "Allowed host" to the user using MySQLAdmin. Took me a while to figure out but I got there in the end.
All my MySQL applications are running off the new dedicated SQL server. It seems to be a lot faster now and the main server isnt under as much load.
This could be the start of a number of servers! _________________ Andy (AbyssUnderground) (previously The Inquisitor)
