Hello,

The package was updated. It is now a self-contained installer. It has better support for Win98/ME and is preconfigured to work with most popular scripts.

We have prepared a preconfigured PHP 5 package for Windows with minimal setup steps. The downloading and installation instructions are in http://www.aprelium.com/abyssws/php5win.html .

Please post your feedback about it here. Let us know if it works fine for you or if there were problems.

Thanks.

I tried this new setup. I uninstalled my existing setup ran the install of the new package and everything that was working stopped working.

Prior to the new install I had two scripts (chat & forum) working. They both quit and resulted in timeouts. Additionally, I was still unable to even get phpMyAdmin to load (which is the goal).

I've since gone back to what was working before.

Caduceus,

What were the exact error messages you had? What are the scripts you use?

There were no error messages...all page load attempts simply hung up at approximately 50% load with a blank screen showing.

As for the two scripts, I'm running BlabLite 2.2 and eforum 2.2

Was there maybe a configuration I missed after installing the package?

Caduceus,

Please try the updated package (see the first message). We have tested it on a fresh Win 98 installation and it works fine with MySQL and PhpMyAdmin.

I don't need this package, as I've got php 5 working fine at the moment, but thanks anyway.

I should've mentioned that the above errors were reported by a script from Big Sam Guest Book that I am trying to install. :-)

So, in reality, possibly the problem lies with it's incompatability with PHP5, and maybe PH5 is working for me.

I have no idea, because that's the only PHP script that I have. :-)

It worked great for me. No problems installing it on a machine running Windows XP Home.

I've just updated my php to 5.0.5. I've just saved the php.ini in another folder and deleted all files from the php folder. Then i've unzipped all new php files to the folder. And it works fine, even PEAR works great.
