It is like Abyss but it is an FTP server. Their is much to learn using it though I know nothing about it except that it is most *probably* what you're looking for... Abyss does not handle FTP request but GuildFTP does.
I mentioned phpresourceindex and hotscripts as places that might provide a solution in uploading, downloading, etc but if you want a full blown FTP server type solution GuildFTP just might be the answer.
Good luck and please explain a little more in detail what is it you're trying to accomplish you feel can be achieved with Abyss alone if your question is not answered.

OK, now you listen. Abyss is not an FTP server. Their is no control panel for others to FTP to your site. Do you understand? Abyss is not an FTP server.
I am trying to help you. Yelling (Writing in all caps) is childish and is poor etiquette. You're completely out of luck if you think Abyss handles FTP request. You should read up a little more to find out how Abyss works and what it can and can not do for you.
GuildFTP has a FTP server and a FTP client. Being they also have an FTP server your friends or family should be able to connect to your site through FTP regardless of FTP client.
Do you understand? Abyss only handles web request such as http and https...
FTP is best handled by FTP servers and Abyss is *NOT* an FTP server.
Outside of suggesting you use GuildFTP to help you I have no other suggestions for you. Perhaps someone can shed more light onto this subject. For now, Good luck with your quest :)

The only control panel available, is for the web server... there is no "all-in-one" control panel covering every hosting solution out there. Every component in such a hosting solution have their configuration, so this means customizing for what ever component you choose. |

They can't... the control panel in the Abyss web server is only for the administrator. If you want to provide a control panel for your users, you must either develope this on your own... or get someone else to do it for you. |

Creating such a control panel is a rather big job, and I don't have the time to do it... they can't access any control panels through your ftp site. Your ftp site have its own configuration which is different from the Abyss. |

You can install an FTP server to make that part easy... e.g.
http://www.yoursite.com/user1
in Abyss you create an alias for /user1 and link this directory to the home directory of user1 in your FTP server. That way when user1 logs on to your FTP server (which is not included in Abyss), they get to their home area... and can upload whatever file they like. These files will be available at /user1 area of your web server. |

Open the control panel for Abyss and go to the Alias section. This is also explained inside the control panel or in the included documentation with Abyss. |

Ice' , Users must edit their "website" locally on theircomputer through software such as FrontPage, Dreamweaver or NotePad. Through the use of 3rd party software, and FTP Server, lets say GuiddftD they can then connect to the ftp server which you'd be running on your computer, that is unrelated to Abyss Webserver, www.guildftd.com will instruct you on how to set up an FTP server, I suggest you go and pay them a visit.

They wont be able to edit it through ftp, they'll be able to "connect" to your computer and upload their files to your webserver.

Look, if you dont want to follow my instructions, fine. Hacking is a possibility, however you should add user accounts restricting people to what they can do and where they can go. I strongly urge you to goto www.guildftpd.com and post about all this on their forum, it's not an Abyss Webserver thing!

Theirs 34 replies in total on this thread so far and to be honest you're question was answered in full by the third reply... Just because an answer is not what you want to hear doesn't it make it any less valuable or false for that matter.
The energy you put into asking these questions you could have spent into researching the answer elsewhere such as the net, Abyss and GuildFTP manuals, etc.
If learning something new intimidates you in anyway you should drop the whole FTP hosting idea as it will cause you to learn more than you think. Not everyone has the answers to your questions... The best one to answer your questions is you.
What you want is a way to provide access to your server using FTP. Abyss is not an FTP server so you'll have to find one. GuildFTP is a FTP server so theirs an answer to a part of question. Move in that direction. Take your questions to an FTP forum in regards to FTP.
Ask your friends and family what client is it they're using and what client is it they wish to use to FTP to your site... Ask them for a copy and then ask the creators of that program to help you out.
Abyss is not an FTP server or client and I can no longer offer my support for one. I hope you good luck in your quest and hope you find the answers to your question. Please no longer post FTP questions here as this is an http/s forum.

Then Consult Microsoft and/or your ISP (Internet Service Provider - You know, the people who give you the internet, but why I dont know...) They'll be able to tell you one way why it's not working....
Either way, Abyss WebServer is running fine for you, congratulations, move along, we're all done here, wether it be FTP Problems or your internet not managing to register on GuidftpD.com forums, it aint our problem, go elsewhere with these problems.

Why is it you consciously choose to ignore our answers? Do you think we're pulling your leg or trying to joke with you? No one gets paid to answer questions but from the kindness of our hearts we choose to do so on our own time and you choose to take advantage of it...
Do you really think that if you ask enough questions the answer will suddenly change?
Your questions are a waste of time, bandwidth, energy and even sanity because the answer will not change. Abyss is not an FTP server and these forums do not answer FTP questions.
How old are you? Honest, please do not lie... It is critical we understand how old you are as it will tell us much about your position in having to deal with technology such as http and ftp, etc...
