Ok, in any response please walk me through it as you might a 4.5 year old..
I recently aquired Abyss web server.. (latest ver)
I installed it.. it ran..
it shows this in the program..:
Server Port: 1 - Console Port: 9999
Web server local URL: http://127.0.0.1:1/
Console local URL: http://127.0.0.1:9999/
My first question: Should it be detecting 127.0.0.1 as my ip.. or my network IP, 192.168.1.2?
and noone outside my network can access it..
I've forwarded port 1 on my router to my network ip (192.168.1.2) and it's port 1..
My second question: Do you have to forward tcp traffic, udp traffic, or both? (because the asus ev6000 only gives you option for one or the other..)
so, so far I've got my router forwarding any tcp traffic coming in on port 1 to 192.168.1.2:1
and it isn't working.
It works when viewing http://127.0.0.1:1/.. and http://192.168.1.2:1/..
but not http://my.ip.is.here:1/
...=\
any help? or just answer my questions.
Sorry this is a very often asked question.. but from those I read I never really got any answers/help from =\ |

You shouldn't use 127.0.0.1 when configuring the router. 127.0.0.1 is only valid inside your computer (it means 'this computer'). We recommend also using a port number that is 80 or higher than 1024. Using port number 1 may produce a lot of problem for other people, because port number below 1024 are usually reserved for some specific protocols.
Finally, you should configure your router. We cannot help you doing that since there are thousands of models of routers out there (can't know them all, and it is not really a topic related to the web server) and it is up to you to read its book to know how to set it up correctly. _________________ Support Team
