I thought everyone might like to watch this as it develops. I have a fully autonomous robot (with its guts ripped out right now) that I am in the process of developing a WEB interface for using the Abyss server. I LOVE this server. It does everything I need it to, with almost no system overhead. The current interface is PHP driven and also uses MYSQL, Quick N Easy FTP, JAVA, and a NetSnap video server.
This is running on a VIA Mini-ITX motherboard (look around the messy office and you'll see it on the desk) with Windows 2000 and a custom Visual Basic app that does all of the control stuff via some OOPic microcontrollers.
The robot is here: http://taibot2.com
Please feel free to log in every day and watch it grow.
Jim...
Note: You must have JavaVM (http://java.com) installed on your machine for the controls to work. |

Thanks for the kind words:) Between the efficiency of the Abyss server, and the speed at which that NetSnap video server pumps out frames using my 6 year old webcam, I think it runs really well. The goal is to have the whole bot controllable through this interface by the end of March.
Thanks again,
Jim .... |
