Is it possible to make make Abyss use forum logins?

Here is my issue.
I have a phpbb forum setup and running.
I have a private members area with links for my downloads area.

I need to know if I can make abyss use my members login to allow them access to a protected directory?
I currently have them logging in 2 times. First into my forum Second into the protected directory. I would like to do away with this.

Just code a PHP script to do it.

You can find out where the Username and Passwords are in the phpBB
databases. You can than use that information to authenticate the user
as they log into the protected directory. It's easier said than done.

The idea is to use the code found in http://www.phpbb.com/kb/article.php?article_id=143 which allows the reuse of the PhpBB authentication in any PHP script.

This authentication code snippet should be added to a directory listing script as the one listed in the documentation ( http://www.aprelium.com/data/doc/2/abyssws-win-doc-html/dirscript.html ) and you should declare in Abyss Web Server configuration that script as the directory listing generator.
