Hello,
IŽm new using web servers and IŽve got some questions (and my english is not very good...) so iŽll try to explain whatŽs my problem.
I have tried Abyss in a Linux laptop and it works great, but I want Abyss web server for managing a dispositive which has some scripts and works under linux, it only has 5Mb of free space buts its more than needed for the abyss to run well. The function for what i need to use abyss is to make some html pages to configure some parametrers of the scripts in the dispositive.
So, I install the abyss in the dispositive, all ok. But when I want to make it run I get the next error message:
./abyssws: 1: Syntax error: "(" unexpected .
IŽve tried to run it by putting: ./abyssws -r (to execute abyssws using root privileges), -c , both together... but always the same error.
I wish you could help me and i hope that me english isnŽt too bad...
:P
thanks!!! _________________ berberwb |

Strange. This doesn't look like a message error generated by Abyss Web Server.
Are you sure abyssws has its executable bit correctly set (using chmod+x abyssws)? Is the abyssws file not corrupted?
Can you package the directory where this abyssws is installed and send it to support@aprelium.com so that we can check it? _________________ Support Team

Hi,
Thanks for your reply. The executable has correct permissions as executable. IŽll try to package and send it to you, so you can check it.
IŽll do it as soon as possible!
Thank you very much for your time. _________________ berberwb |

Hi again!
IŽve tried the abyssws installed on my device on my laptop and it works!!! :(
Can be the problem on the version of linux installed on my device???
iŽve executed: uname -a , and the result is:
Linux (none) 2.4.18-rmk3 #747 Wed Jun 30 13:27:06 2004 armv41 unknown
So I think the problem must be in my Linux, not in the installation of Abyss...
Waiting for your help! :P _________________ berberwb |

The problem is clear now: your device processor is an ARM while abyssws executable is compiled for Intel 386/486/Pentium family of processors. So we have here a binary compatibility problem. _________________ Support Team

compartidor,
The binary code in the executable was generated for i386. So it won't work on ARM.
But we can compile/build Abyss for any other processor type (including ARM) provided that we have the appropriate development tools. What is the exact type of your processor and on which platform do you use it? _________________ Support Team

hello,
the platform on wich I want to run Abyssws is Linux 2.4.18-rmk3, it is shown on a post above. I think it is that what you want to know. Anyway iŽll try to send you the compiler of my dispositive as soon as possible so you can test it! If you need to know anything else tell me and IŽll answer you quickly!!
thanks again for your help and for being so interested in resolving my problem!
I hope to hear from you shortly!! _________________ berberwb |

compartidor,
Great! If you can send us an URL from which we can download a ready-to-use cross compiler that can run on i386 and generate binary code for your platfrom, this would save us a lot of time. _________________ Support Team

Hello,
I know this is a very old topic, but very interresting to me :)
I have tried abyss on a windows machine , and it runs as a charme...a very easy to use webserver .
Now I tried to do install the same as compartidor, and got the same error in my linux machine.
With uname -a I get
Linux linksys11 2.4.22-xfs #1 Sun Jun 12 21:17:17 PDT 2005 armv5b unknown
Did somebody builded a compiled version already for this processor / platform?

Only Aprelium can do it since the source code of the software is not publicly available. :-)
We do not promise anything for now but we'll try to have an experimental ARM build ready when version 2.3 will be officially released. _________________ Support Team

RuKo,
We'll post a message about its availability on the 2.3 Beta forum and here when it'll be released.
Thanks. _________________ Support Team
