Hello all,

when I make speed tests from my hosted sides - all on my Abyss X2 server I always get the info to "Recommendation - Specify a Vary: Accept-Encoding header"...

What can I do to "activate" this - compression is activated, also added the mime types etc ...

Has anyone a tip for me ?
What can I do to get here also the max speed ...

I found that I only get this message on my html5 sites, not on my mixed sites php + html5.

regards
sigih.

Hello sigih.--

Yes, you can do this. Go to Abyss Admin. Choose your host, Click "General",
Click "Advance Parameters" (Edit), Scroll to "Custom HTTP Headers", click "Add", enter Virtual Path = / , HTTP Header Name = Vary , HTTP Header Value = Accept Encoding click OK at bottom of Advanced Parameters Page, follow the prompts and restart the server.

TNX for fast answer,

I'va added the VARY Parameter before but I still get the Info "Recommendation - Specify a Vary: Accept-Encoding header" and not the max speed via testing ...
Is this now a problem on server or client side ?

Hello again sigih.--

I can't really tell you. Your site (from your signature) was down. Some websites or "hosts" will add their own server headers (especially php driven websites like word press.)

I would go to http://tools.pingdom.com/fpt/ and see just what or where they are saying this should be applied. Sometimes, when the content is inserted via SSI, etc. you have to make a special "Vary: Accept Encoding" for that. In my case I have one host where I had to do...

/sixa/udm4 Vary Accept Encoding
/sixa/udm4/udm-resources Vary Accept Encoding
/ Vary Accept-Encoding

It is also a good idea, if you have not already found, out to set:
File Expiration Times to 7 days

Hello again sigh.--

Well, the problem is not your site:
The following publicly cacheable, compressible resources should have a "Vary: Accept-Encoding" header:

http://www.xn--hrting-bua.com/

Not much you can do about that unless you remove http://www.xn--hrting-bua.com/ ...which is what? Some kind of redirection service?

When I run http://87.247.212.28/sigi/ through Pingdom you get 100%
