I have come to understand that due to Abyss X1 v2.x's ISAPI interfacing abilities, it should be able to integrate well with ColdFusion.

Has anyone gotten this working?

I am running it on windows XP.

Does anyone have any information, whatsoever, on getting this going. It is fairly urgent that I either get this going or use another webserver that can use CF. (I would hate to do this because I love Abyss)

Thanks.

mobrien,

In old versions of ColdFusion, all you have to do is to associate the cfm, cfml, and other CF extensions with ISCF.DLL (it is in the CF installation directory).

We have not tested MX7 yet, so we'll give you more information after installing it and seeing what changes Macromedia has made.

ISCF.dll is no more. Maybe there is a different DLL that is used. I also noticed that there are new EXE files in this version of CF. I think it is a complete reworking of the structure of the software.

If anyone is willing to help me figure this out, Macromedia offers a 30 day trial of ColdFusion which turns in to the developer edition when time is up. You can find it quite easily at www.macromedia.com.

Also, thanks to aprelium software for your quick response. I will be anxiously awaiting any further help you can offer me. Again: I love your product.

mobrien,

We have installed CF MX 7 and we've understood its new architecture. The good news is that there are "ISAPI extensions only" connectors now but we must check if they work with Abyss Web Server or if they are too IIS specific.

We'll post more details as soon as possible.

mobrien,

We spent a lot of time yesterday manually configuring ColdFusion and the ISAPI extension connector. Unfortunately, it has not worked correctly.
The connector always logs internal errors and fails. We do not know if this is caused by the fact that this connector is IIS 6 specific or if the failure is due to configuration problems. We'll continue the investigation.

Can you tell me what file you linked to to use the ISAPI? Maybe I can try it and see what happens for me. Also, any special setup you tired?

Thanks again,

Agreed. I tried installing it on my friends computer with ISS yesterday. Didn't work....... (After following their directions. After a few tweaks of my own, got it working.)

mobrien,

We have based the setup on the instructions in http://www.macromedia.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=tn_19575 . The web server type we have used as model is IIS6 and the ISAPI DLL is jrun_iis6_wildcard.dll (or jrun_iis6.dll).

Any news on this? There has got to be a way to use CF with abyss. Maybe I should try Macromedia's support? Would they be able to help?

No news so far. We're working on a temporary workaround for now.

Just wanted to bring up the old 'sore subject' of ColdFusion. I would love to have it working. Although I'm using iPlanet Enterprise at work to host my CF work, I would like to see it working here at home with Abyss.

Thanks guys and gals.

mobrien,

No news yet. We're still working on a quick temporary solution and hope releasing it soon.

I notice there is a new version of Abyss! Congratulations! Anyone wanna guess what my question is going to be?

That's right! I would like to know if anyone has it working with Coldfusion MX 7.

I am not interested in IgniteFusion, although I believe it is a great idea.

Thanks to anyone who can help.

First of all a small thing: IgniteFusion isn't able to do the great things the official CF can do. (See for yourself in the IgniteFusion features list).

I tried multiple things to use ColdFusion as an Abyss ISAPI ref. But they all failed. I hope you guys have more luck than me.

This is what I get when running CFMX7 asof Abyss:
Module: None URI: /test.cfm Request #0 Cannot load C:\CFusionMX7\runtime\lib\wsconfig\1\jrun.dll: An initialisationroutine of the dynamic link library (DLL-file) failed.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Edit: 12:48
Notice BTW that I didn't start ColdFusion server but only ran the ISAPI via Abyss.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Edit: 12:50
I checked the access.log as well and it shows me this:
127.0.0.1 - - [28/Mar/2006:12:35:12 +0200] "GET /test.cfm HTTP/1.1" 500 415 "http://localhost/" "Opera/9.00 (Windows NT 5.1; U; en)"

Explanation:
500 as the internal server error
415 as an unsupported media type

mobrien,

This new version is still unable to run ColdFusion MX. Their latest ISAPI connector is using features that are only supported in IIS. We will do our best to update our ISAPI support to mimic these missing features and hopefully it will be able to run.

Another alternative is to write a connector for ColdFusion. But this will require a lot of time to do the reverse engineering of their communication protocol.

I tried every connector delivered with ColdFusion and they didn't work indeed.

I hope you will be able to make one working soon! :D

Wow! It's been 6 months since I last inquired about the status of ColdFusion support in Abyss. :)

Any news/status/anything? I would love to use Abyss to serve my CF!

As this topic (http://www.aprelium.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=58349#58349) mentions, it would only be possible through a documented hack. Which isn't very secure and can't run side-by-side with IIS.

Thanks Yami King, but that link doesn't seem to work for me. I would love to read this information. Do you have another link, per chance?

Thanks,

...Does ColdFusion work with the new and improved version of Abyss?

Thanks,

mobrien,

Nothing new for CF with the new version. JSP and CF support will probably be added in the next version 2.5.

Hope ColdFusion and JSP will be supported through ColdFusion & JRun, in 2.5.

Would be a breakthrough :)

Hello all!

It has been over 6 months since I have posted here about ColdFusion support, and three years and a day since my original post. ColdFusion has gained another version and I have started using Apache + webmin or IIS for everything web related.

I have not given up on Abyss though! I would love to start deploying it (commercial version) if it supported ColdFusion connection!

Any news on this, or is it a hopeless cause?

Thanks,

I believe a JSP connector is being developed as we speak, but I don't know when it will be available.
