When i try to view my website from another computer, by entering my ip address, it prompts me for a routers password. I am using Zandros. I have forwarded port 8000 to my box ip 192.168.1.103
I get my index page but it asks for router's password.
Could not use port 80 for listening error.

Appreciates any help

If you have a listening error on port 80 then check any existing web servers you may have used such as Apache or IIS are not still running. It so, stop them or uninstall them and try again.

If else fails, use port 8080, not 8000.

Your router probably doesn't support loopback , try a web based proxy and see
if it can connect to your website , if not , I can help you on my MSN Messenger.

A good proxy to try would be www.the-cloak.com

My MSN: msn@trustabyss.com

No matter what port I use I get asked for my Linsys router’s password.
Only port 80 I get “Listening Error”

As I have said I am using Xandros. I had no problem before when I installed Abyss on XP pro. But a lot people told me that Linux is more stable than Windows. I hope I don’t have to go back to XP

Thaks for your help

I use windows XP, look at my uptime, over 20 days. XP is only a problem when you make it one. You need to keep on top of it, dont install updates (thats what makes them unstable IMO) and defrag once a fortnight etc.

Works for me and ive have zero problems.

We have missed the fact that you were using Linux (you've mispelled Xandros in the first post).
On Unix systems (and Linux of course), ports < 1024 are not available to normal users. Only the system administrator (root) can use them.
So you should take special care to configure Abyss Web Server to run in this mode.
Please read http://www.aprelium.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=38272#38272 to know how to do.

I have one more question to ask, that is how do I get the console's icon to show in the tray (taskbar).

Thanks again.

If Abyss Web Server is running as an NT Service , you won't see the tray icon
and thats because when programs run as a service , they start up hidden. :-)

The tray icon is only available on Windows and only when the program is not running as a Windows Service.
