Hello,
I have searched and searched but can't seem to solve this. I have also gotten some answers from support but still can't get this to work on my server.

I have wordpress installed on Abyss and this is what my url looks like:

www.mysite.com/index.php/somepage/

I want to have it without "index.php" it worked great when i had apache but it doesn't seem to work on abyss.

Does anyone have this working correctly and can provide some step by step instructions or even exurbs of your code.
I have fairly limited coding knowledge and it would really help to see some code where this was achieved successfully.

Thank you !

My WP install works fine with URLs like domain.com/?p=1272

However, in the permalink settings of WP, it seems that other methods include index.php in the URL whether you like it or not: domain.com/index.php/2013/06/sample-post/ for example.

My system has no rewrite rules for WP, and WP hasn't created any .htaccess files... If you want to make prettier URLs it would seem you're on your own regarding the URL rewriting (and then you'd need to tell WP to create these new index.php-free URLs)... Maybe there's a plugin for it?

tl;dr - it doesn't look like wordpress does this without modification.
