very good.
It just needed modifying slightly before it would display properly in Opera, so I added this to the top of the file:
Code: | <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC '-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN'>
<html lang='en'>
<head>
<meta http-equiv='Content-Type' content='text/html; charset=iso-8859-1'> |
NOTE: the "<html lang='en'>" is the proper way to show the language of the document. _________________ Olly |

Im glad you guy's like it , I didn't know about Opera , I will modify it and fix
it ASAP , The index listing would have been better if I knew how to change
the last modified date and the size format , but hey its pretty cool.
Edit: It works fine under Opera browsers without that added html code.
This is your Early Christmas present.... Happy Holidays! |

I just released v2 of AWS - Index Lister and the reason for this new release is
to have better controle over the huge file names , if you have a really long file
name and don't want to rename it to get a good listing , the new version will
rename your long file names so that they don't mess up the listing.
Example: Long Names.
The Offspring - Why Dont You Get A Job
will be shown as
The Offspring - Why Dont You ..> |

Please change:
Code: |
<meta http-equiv='Content-Type' content='text/html; charset=iso-8859-1'> |
to:
Code: |
<meta http-equiv='Content-Type' content='text/html; charset=utf-8'> |
Actually the file names and URLs are encoded in UTF-8 (Unicode) in Abyss Web Server. _________________ Support Team

Well you can if you want. But why would you change it?
ISO-8859-1 is a subset of UTF-8 (Unicode) and only supports latin characters. At the contrary, UTF-8 supports almost all human languages (including latin characters.) If you are going to restrict your file listings to ISO-8859-1, a file name in Cyrillic or Chinese won't be displayed correctly.
FYI, most HTML editors and even Windows tools (such as Notepad) know how to read and save in UTF-8. So there is no problem to create or convert old ISO-8859-1 HTML files. |

Yeah , I tested Apache and it took 1.34 seconds more to load my website but
Abyss did the job in only 0.72 seconds. You can do these tests on your own if
you wanted to and you would find that Abyss Web Server loads faster. |

I don't think it has anything to do with the modules because I did a normal
install on Apache and just ran the site , it seemed to be slower , im right. :) |

Well when i ran Apache and tested it with Abyss, Apache loaded for me just slightly faster. However i still use Abyss, mainly because its so easy to change settings, etc... So, i think it varys for everybody(their speed, the modules installed, and their PC specs)... _________________ -NoName

A bug was discovered in v2 today where if you had a file named .fra , since this
isn't a .ra real player file it will show up as a Real file any way , I added a bug
fix that fixes this issue so that .fra files are shown as ? icons. LateR!
Note: It is strongly recommended to upgrade to this new version ASAP.
Have a look at the top to know why this behavior occurs. Thank You! :) |

Modules has everything to do with it. Its what makes apache, apache. A module does directory listing. A module does vitrual hosting...ect. A normal install of apache is going to have like 10 modules enabled by default. (I didn't count them its just a guess.) _________________

Yeah I looked and your right , I still think that Apache is the slowest server so
it doesn't matter what your PC specs are , that fact that Abyss serves the pages
faster on a PC thats not even too modern is a great thing. LateR! |

Opinion is different from fact. Ill bet a 1$ that if you just put apache to just the bare minium (including stripping the config.httpd of everything you don't need) itll run just as fast as abyss, maybe even faster. _________________

dude that wrote a file size format script , I was able to add that to my index
listing script so that you no longer see that (Bytes) crap. Enjoy it!
Note: The new update is available at the top , im sure alot of you will be
using this script now that its properly formated , at least I hope so :/ |

Yeah and another update , I rewritten the file size format code so that it looks
just like Abyss Web Server's default index so when you have files that are not
even a KB , the file will be named like 0.13 KB as in 130 Bytes. LateR!
Note: Preview the screenshots to see how files that are in Bytes are handled.
You will no longer have to see files that aren't KB labled as Bytes ever again.
Sincerely , TRUSTpunk |

A bug was found in yesturdays update , I correctly fixed the bug today and put
out a Bug Fix , to explain about what was happening in the old torn up version
that was buggy , I failed to correctly setup the MB elseif statement.
Note: The bug is now fixed , please update your copy if you downloaded the
new update from yesturday , the bug that was discovered is just minor. :-)

Cmx alerted me of a potential bug in v2 of AWS - Index listing that gave you
a 404 Not Found error when requesting files that had single quotes in them. I
already fixed the bug , please upgrade to this new version ASAP. Thank You!
To Aprelium: Your directory indexing script that escapes the double quotes was
the source to this bug , please escape the HTML quotes with the \ character. :/
Sincerely , TRUSTpunk. |

You're right: $name should be escaped the HTML way using:
Code: |
htmlentities($name, ENT_QUOTES, "UTF-8")

I made a quick update to the AWS - Index Listing script, instead of cutting off
part of the File name after 32 characters, I increased it to 45 characters, it just
looks much more better that way. Also changed Date to Last modified.
Note: You can use Abyss Web Server to hide stuff in the Directory Listing, just
log into the console and select the host you wish to configure, and browse the
console to the Directory Listing section, add the hidden stuff you want.
I also updated the download links, you won't get a 404 error now.
Sincerely, TRUSTpunk |
