Hello there. I am a (relative) newcomer to Linux, and I'm trying to install Abyss Web Server on my Fuduntu system so I can learn PHP and MySQL for my Computing course.

I have followed the installation instructions and have attempted to install the folder to /usr/local/abyssws

This is the current output I am getting:
Quote:
mike@icarus /usr/local/abyssws $ ./abyssws
Abyss Web Server X1 (v 2.8)
Copyright (C) Aprelium - 2001-2012

Error: @ (key: /root/console/bindip - file: /usr/local/abyssws/abyss.conf - line: 0 - col: 0)
Error: Cannot save the configuration file (key: /root/console/bindip - file: /usr/local/abyssws/abyss.conf - line: 0 - col: 0)
Critical: ]^XCCC]^
A configuration file was created.
You should now browse http://127.0.0.1:0 to continue with the console access configuration.

The console is not running

I have also tried using sudo, and tried executing it as root to no avail. I have attempted to view 127.0.0.1:0 also to configure the server but I'm having absolutely no luck!

If anyone is able to give me some advice I'd much appreciate it. :)

The user running Abyss Web Server has no right to create and write to a file in the Abyss Web Server setup directory.

Either deploy Abyss Web Server to a directory when you have write permission or add write permission to the directory where Abyss Web Server was copied.

The other solution is to start from scratch and follow our setup instructions to the letter (they are simple): http://www.aprelium.com/data/doc/2/abyssws-linux-doc-html/start.html
