What is "Microsoft Weft" ?

This is a simple to use Program that can create special font files that can be used on the web even if the visitor
doesn't have this font installed , they will still be able to view this font because it will always show up on your
website , basicly it allows users that don't have that font installed , view it on your website. Very Cool!

Note: not all Fonts can be embeded , if you see a red X with a circle after selecting the font you would like to use
chances are is that the license for that font does not allow embeding so this right here is the catch. Continue...

Intallation:

Download Microsoft Weft and install it , now we will create the font file. Click here to download the Weft v3 software.
This software is used so that you can display fonts not installed on your visitor's computer , very cool program!

Open the Weft program and click on "Tools" -> "Update Font DB..." , This updates the fonts database , click on
"Tools" -> "Run Wizard" and we will now create the eot file , their are Three steps to doing this. Good Luck!

Step 01:
Click Next and fill out Full Name: and click on Next again , Go to the drop menu and change "file://" -> "http://"
, type "www.google.com" without the quotes and hit the checkbox "Do not add linked pages" then hit Add and click on
Next after that , Click on Next again.

Step 02:
Select all fonts by holding down the SHIFT key and by clicking on every font name , select the "Don't embed" button
and click on the Add button , where going to now add the font you want as a "Embeded Object TrueType Font" Select
the font you wish to use and click OK , then hit the Next button.

Step 03:
Change the drop menu "http://" to "file://" and type C:\ , this will be where your .eot file will be saved or you can
choose a different location , I use C:\ Click on the edit button and add all the URL's that will be allowed to use this
font , then click the OK button , check "Show CSS @font-family declerations" and hit the Next button , your CSS code
will display on screen , just copy it and insert it in the HEAD section of your web page , Tutorial over :) Enjoy!

Note: Remember to change the URL in your CSS code to a relative path or a full URL path to the .eot file , this is
a great way to add cool fonts that everyone can see , its so easy , my HTML book taught me about this application.

Just how cool is this , I have provided a link to an example below this msg.
http://www.trustabyss.com/weft.html , This is very cool , now you do it...

Note: Only CSS supported browsers that support Embeded Object TrueType
Fonts will be able to see this , seems to me that Microsoft's IE only works :(

If you want cross browser functionality, have a look at dynamic text replacement with PHP instead...
