|

Hi,
If my website is not accessed for a long time, say a few days, will Windows put the Abyss Web Server process to sleep?
The reason I am asking, is because I am currently working on a website every few days, and the first time I access the homepage through the web browser, it takes a noticeably long time to load, sometimes long enough to cause a timeout error in the browser. But once the homepage loads for the first time, access to all areas of the website (not just the homepage) is almost instantaneous.
All the Windows power-management settings are set for high performance, so I don't think Windows is putting the computer to sleep. But could it be doing some kind of "intelligent" process-scheduling?
Any ideas would be very welcome.
Regards,
Jacko |

jacko9000,
All depends on what the page you're accessing is. If it is a page that is in PHP or uses ASP.NET, then loading the programming language and framework may need sometime (depending on your computer worlkload and speed.)
ASP.NET may take up to a minute to load on some configurations. So using the preload features in Abyss Web Server for scripting languages or ASP.NET applications may help reduce that initial request loading time. _________________ Support Team

Thanks for the reply.
It is indeed a PHP page, so I presume it is, as you suggested, the time taken to load the interpreter.
Is there any way I can keep it active after the last time I have used it?

Sorry, I didn't realise you were talking about the FastCGI advanced options, but I figured that out. I have read the help file for this and set the advanced parameters accordingly.
Thanks for the tip.
