I have installed abyss and nobody can assess the pages. I have not attached the domain name to the server yet. I am having people try based upon the ip address. I have changed the port from 80 to 8888 in case my isp was blocking 80. They still can not access the site. What to do? |

Do you have a router? (setup port forwarding)
Do you run the Windows XP firewall? (if yes disable it)
Do you run any other firewall? (set it to allow abyss internet access)
Do you have a static (fixed) or dynamic (changing) ip address?
What ip address does this page give you?

Check to make sure that nothing is using port 8888, or just try a different port. You can use this command in the command line to figure out if a port is in use-
netstat -an | find ":8888"
Then if you see an IP address or a bunch of IP addresses, then that port is already in use. If nothing appears, then nothing is using it, and your probelm still exsists. Try a different port then anyway. Or, you could goto https://grc.com/x/ne.dll?bh0bkyd2 to figure out witch ports are open, and even though this has nothing to do with it, how secure your computer is.[/url] _________________ Fedora Core is the best OS that exsist today.
