Did you make that entire template yourself; including the images?

If you did, then I say good job.

GOODS:
good colors
good layout
good template

BADS:
Too wide should try to layout so users with 800x600 don't have too scroll from side to side. about 50% of users view in 800x600. Buttons too large.

what? 800x600 is too small i think hehhe, here in sweden, most users got 19inche monitor so i thought it poeple should use at least 1028x768.

i did once 800x600 but to the site was too small then for all text. the flash menu buttons i guess u ment. yes i know it is too big but if i change it to smaller once i think it would look worse.

what solution are u using now btw?

I use 1024x768. People are moving more toward that resolution. I use Mozilla/Netscape. With my sidebar open i have to scroll side to side.with it closed there is still a scrollbar at the bottom, barely fits.when i view with ie there is no scrollbar at bottom with sidebar closed. have to scroll about 20% with sidebar open.

aki,
If you changed your table widths to percentages (%), you could get a better fit for
different resolutions. The same can be done with the flash menu.
These are called liquid layouts, that expand or contract depending on the size of the
visitor's monitor.
Take a look at this: http://www.maxdesign.com.au/presentation/liquid/

BTW - You can still delete posts if there are no replies after it.

I don't think it is 50% anymore. Now, 800x600 is only being used by the people who can't afford/don't want to upgrade their monitor. Since computers have reached such a general population now days, and because almost all equipment post-2002 has a default of 1024x768, 800x600 is getting a smaller and smaller userbase.

Also, there has been a lot of pressure on consumers to "Upgrade!" and "Buy Now!" which limits the usage of 800x600 even more.

My point: You probably don't need to worry about smaller resolutions. "Liquid layouts" can be a good idea, but I would say still design for 1024x768.

I agree. I try to make pages to fit in 1024x768 with the sidebar open. This way it fits 800x600 with sidebar closed. I also use liquid layouts to insure the best fit for both resolutions.

there is javascript that can redirect people with lower resolutions.

something like:

<script language="Javascript"><!--

if (screen.width <= 800) {
document.location = "800x600.htm";
}

else if (screen.width > 800) {
document.location = "larger.htm";
}

//-->
</script>

Yeah, I used one of those on a website I had a long time ago.

Here's the script: http://javascript.internet.com/user-details/resolution-page.html
If you don't like the button idea, change "onClick" to "onLoad," and put it in your "body" tag.
