I don't think there has been an incident of that with Abyss; but there is always a first for everything.

You are experiencing memory leakage! The swapfile is getting too large because of the leakage and takes up the slack from the memory. This is part of the operating system, since Win98 is not a server operating system. Win98 usually needs rebooting each day or two because it becomes unstable. Rebooting clears up the memory and returns the swap file to its "normal" size. If you really need to use Win98, buy more memory (first check to see the max memory your computer can hold...each is designed differently) or reboot each day for a smoother experience. BTW, your users may be experiencing agonzingly slow access times to your website once the swapfile gets too large...

I have exactly the ssame problem of my hard drive filling up but I use Mac OS X.3. I only have the OS, abyss and a ftp server running and after 2/3 days of active "visits" (have only had the server running for 2/3 days!!), it fills up very quickly (have a 5 gig drive with ~ 3 gig available. Woke up this morning and there was only 124 mg left). Had to restart the server machine (restartingf the server did nothing) to regain the 3 gig back)
Am going to post this as a separate thread to hopefully get some answers...

Guys, now something else.
I post it here becouse this is an old topic of my own and don't want to spend a new topic for this small question :)

Wasn't it possible in the past to test the beta versions of abyss? I've got another computer where I can test it so now I'm able to test it.
Is abyss still 'baging' users to help them this way? And if yes, Where can I download the beta version?

This is sure a hot thread.

The beta version isn't out yet. The "preview" version is, but it only accepts connections from localhost anyway. If you want it, get it in the "Suggestions for the Future" section.

sanderrrrrr,

The beta version is not yet released. We've only posted on the forum a very early preview (2 or 3 weeks ago). When the beta will be available, we'll announce it here as we did with previous versions.

Thanks.

Ok,
I will try the beta version when it is available :). Oh, and the preview version ofcourse.

[a little bit ontopic again]
I found my WIN2000 CD !!!!!
It is even the Pro version 8) . And, I found a 4 Gb HD. So now I will kick my 500 Mb HD (now C-disk) and use the 1,2 Gb to install win2000 pro, webserver, ftp server and so on.

The 4 Gb will be used for pages and ... hmzzz even more pages.

Is this good thinking or is there anybody who can convince me to do it differend?

I would use the biggest hard drive for the operating system. You will never have 4GB of data, so 1.2GB is sufficient enough to hold a website. That way, you can store all programs on the same disk as the Operating System.

I'm now used to put all the software (webserver etc) at the D-disk becouse my C-disk was very small.

Hmzzz, I think it's beter, and logical acually, to put all the software on a HD wich is big enough.

In a few weeks I have the time and my stable server will be back again, WHOOO, yeah!
