when i try to use my ip address to access my server, i get directed to my router administration area as my LinkSYS BEFSR41v3 router is configured to do that . i try using a different port for my abyss server but rhat doesnt work either. now, the only way i can access my site is using the localhost ip (127.0.0.1) or my local LAN ip (192.168.x.xxx). can some one help me re this? :? :? :?  :?:

Well to fix your problem, just look to the title of your post: "Port Fowarding and Router Configurarion." In the router configuration, set it to forward port 80 to your internal IP (192.168.1.x).

You cannnot access your site using your internet IP behind a router, even with port forwarding switched on. This is normal. You need to use the LAN IP or localhost. If you have a domain name or dynamic dns you would like to associate with your internet IP, you need to edit the Windows hosts file.

Once you have configured your router to forward all traffic on port 80 (or whatever port you use) to your internal IP address, you will be able to see your webserver via your external IP address.

This is possibly because your ISP blocks port 80. Try using a non-standard port such as 85.

What happen when you enter your WAN IP? What does it show you or what happen?
Do you get login or error page?
Did you Port Forward your "192.168.x.xxx" to your Abyss box?
See "Figure 9-17" page 65 in the manual or 36 of 66 in PDF from this link -

Try setting Abyss to another odd port and set your router according to that new port. Your ISP maybe blocking that port.
