Hi,

No one can access my site from the internet. Why?
Should they include the port in the ipnumber?

Thanks,

The port no should only be included if it is different from the default port number (ie 80).

Also some ISP?s block access on port 80. Try accessing on a different port.

Are you using your external ip address? Check it here http://www.aprelium.com/ip/

What type of internet connection do you use?

Do you use a firewall, if yes what type?

if you are using a dialup connection you are unable to run a server from it. Also you need abyss web server permanently running and connected to the internet through the computer it is running from.

To run a server successfully you should be running a high speed internet connection

I haven't done it before but I'm guessing, you would first need to map it as a network drive (for this eg I will use W).

Then access the server console. Go to > Home > Server Configuration. In the box called Documents Path enter the mapped networked drive letter (eg W:\).

Then click ok followed by reset, it should then work :D

http://127.0.0.1 is your internal ip address and is the same for all windows computers. no one else may use that unless they use the computer where the server is installed.

to run a sever on the web you need an always on connection, and something fasted than your normall 56K modem...........that has an upload speed of about 5K's a sec.

Still fine serving a couple of users with a low graphic site on a modem, it's just not suited for anything big... When I was stuck on dialup I'd use Abyss for anything I wanted to DCC to people on IRC and just stick it on the server meaning they could use a decent download manager instead of getting halfway through, getting disconnected and finding that mirc wouldn't resume...
