Problem With MySql and PhpMyAdmin....

Ok, I've got php installed, I got the Green Light running, and I'm trying to load phpMyAdmin, but whenever I go to the address: http://68.6.216.163:8475/phpMyAdmin/ It gives me an access denied message. phpMyAdmin tried to connect to the MySQL server, and the server rejected the connection. You should check the host, username and password in config.inc.php and make sure that they correspond to the information given by the administrator of the MySQL server.

I've tried and tried to fix it, but to no avail. And I have reinstalled, and installed many times over, but still no success. I've ran that MySql control center many times too, I've tried to create new usernames, but, it always gets some Windows error and quits. Oh, and, I'm trying to get an Invisionboard installed here, which I have done successfully in the past, but now as I'm trying to do this again, everything is messing up!! GAH! :x :x :evil:


Oh, and I'm running Win ME, and I've got the best internet connection ever if that does any good..or..bad...

Go into the "config.inc.php" file of phpMyAdmin and remove all passwords. Go into the "my.ini" file (found in "C:\Windows\") and remove the username and password password entries.

Now go into phpMyAdmin and set a password for "root" at location "%."

Don't worry, I don't think you're computer stupid.

mySQL isn't running. Check the task manager and look for "mysqld.exe" or "mysqld-nt.exe" to see if it is there. Does mySQL have a green light?

Also, what operating system are you running?

Yes, ME is by far the worst Windows operating system there is. That's why Microsoft tried to recall it. (No offense; I had a teacher who had a entire lab of ME-Equipped computers).

Check the task manager and look for "mysqld.exe" and tell me if you see it. Also, make sure my.ini doesn't have the user or pass entries, and that phpMyAdmin does not have a password set in the "config.inc.php."

Ok. There are three "$cfg['Servers'][$i]['user'] = ''; " in the config file. The first one, you should have user=root and no pass (which you do). The second and third one, leave BOTH the user and pass blank. Right now you have the second and third set to root. Remove the "root" entry.

At least that's how I have it set up on mine; and it works fine.
