On monday I changed the computer I hosted my web site on. Since then I am not able to get my address of HTTP://freiss.co.nr to work. I have the correct ISP number but it won't link to my site. I have been using this service for a long while without any issues till now. I removed the hard drive from the old computer an installed it in the new one. Everything seems correct but it just won't link up. Any help you can do would be great.

Thanks

Yes it is. I never changed that. All I did was replace the computer the server is on. In doing thid I removed the oem HD and replaced it with the one from the old comp. I have the corect isp number but my address of http://freiss.co.nr will not connect. I have been using this server for a couple years without a single problem till now.

Thanks

You will need to add a port forward rule to your router's configuration
to open port 80. What is the make/model of your router?

This is the IP that comes up for my comp 24.117.45.64

The only numbers I can change on the router is the last 3. The rest are set.

The settings are the same on the router as they were befor the comp change. It IP address I listed is the same one that the old comp showed.

24.117.45.64 is your external IP.
Your internal IP, 192.168.X.XXX, is the one assigned to that particular pc.
This IP may change if you have more than one pc connected to the router.

Your site loads just fine for me. Nice to see some real cars! Today's 4 cylinder Honda's and Toyota's just don't cut it.

BTW, you can add your site to http://abyss-websites.com/
It's a graphical listing of Abyss-powered websites.

Try accessing http://server.interal.ip.address
or http://my.wan.ip.address
from another computer and see if there's any success.

I just typed in 192.168.1.102 from IE Exp address bar and the site opens. When I try to change the numbers in the URL redirect it will not take the number. It says it's no good. I'm still confused!!

You'll need to check the server computer's IP address. It will probably be along the lines of 192.168.1.3
then access it from another computer on your network as http://192.168.1.3

You can get the IP address in WinXP with ipconfig (from the command line) or winipcfg for Win98.

Also try accessing it as your wan ip address. My WAN IP address is http://24.145.130.71
You can see your wan ip address in my sig below.

The command line says it's 192.168.1.102 If I type that number in a search in I Exp it opens the web site. When I try to change the number in my redirect domain it says it's invalid. That's what has me stumped.

Your external IP, 24.117.45.64, is what you type into your redirect domain.
The internal IP, 192.168.1.102, is only used to let the router know which pc
is running the server.

All server requests are intercepted by your router at first. Then, the router
forwards the requests to the internal IP that is associated with the server.

Cool! It's nice to know of other Christians out there in cyberspace.

Yah, I'm the webmaster for our church's website. That's what got me into the whole web hosting scene. Does your church have a website?

Hey RareTA.

Status: As of right now, your server must be offline, because I can't connect to it right now.

::A re-explanation of Moxxnixx's last post::
You need to have the co.nr redirection set to your external IP address (24.117.45.64). That will allow anyone from the internet to view your site.

Your router segregates between internal traffic and external traffic. That is where port forwarding comes in. It allows connections initiated from the internet (external) to come inside (internal) your network to your server computer.

When accessing the site internally (inside your network), you can use http://192.168.1.102
You may not be able to access your co.nr domain from your internal network. This would be either a router issue or an ISP issue. Some ISPs block internal requests to the same IP address. But if you can access the co.nr domain from http://proxify.com then your site is running just fine to the outside world.

Does that help?

Well this is what I have done today. I completelly deleted the web page, server and router from both comps. I reinstalled it all and set up the router to port 80. On my console it says port 80 running. In the Proxify I can open the site. From the main comp that is hard wired to the router and my laptop which is wireless I cannot open the web page. I called my wife at work and she cannot open the web site. I'm just about to throw all this crap in the can. Everything says this site should work but NO GO!! I cannot understang why simply changing a comp that the site runs on is so hard. I never had this much trouble when i I first opened the site 2-3 years ago.

Congratulations, Abyss is working just as it should!

http://24.117.45.64/ is working just fine for me. I get the "Welcome to Abyss Web Server" web page in my browser.
That means that Abyss is running properly on the server computer.
That also means that your router is set up properly.

The problem: The .co.nr domain is no longer working. Maybe you can re-enable it.

You might also try a different subdomain provider. http://dyndns.org or http://no-ip.com or http://yi.org
I recommend www.yi.org the most. I've had absolutely no trouble with it, though it might be a little more complicated than the other ones.

Thanks!! The trouble now is before I checked your post I started formatting the server comp. I gave up and now I'll just start over. I'll check back later once it's all setup again!!!

Hello RareTA,

Does the command line say "DHCP Enabled" when you use the command "ipconfig /all" on the server computer? If so, you need to setup a local static IP so that 192.168.102 never changes.
I can help you set one up if you have time. My MSN: msn@trustabyss.com

Kind regards, Josh

Glad it's working again for you.

Would you like to add your website to http://abyss-websites.com ?
I'm trying to get as many entries as possible of active Abyss websites.

There's an 'Add' link at the top of the page. Thanks!

@Aprelium, would you like to add aprelium.com to the site?

I just fixed that. Freiss.co.nr runs on Apache. In the source code served by Apache, it frames to your IP address. That explains why Abyss wasn't detected.

Framed URLs have ben the biggest headache in this project! But I'm working on that situation. And thanks for submitting your site!

Cool!! I see you even got the pic to work. I tried to but I couldn't get it either. Now that I have the web site running on a Dell with a 1.6 Gig processer I was able to add some cool stuff I was not able to on the old Gateway. The only thing on Dell is the operating system and the Abyss server. Now the web pages open alot faster.
