I've seen this question before, but as I didn't see an answer that actually solved the problem I am in need of serious help.

Abyss 2.6
Preconfigured 5.2.9-1 PHP
Zen Cart 1.3.8

Installed in that order.

The store comes up just fine, it's the admin area. I only made one change to the config file that was configured for me during install.

That was
define('HTTP_SERVER', 'http://www.viciado.net');
define('HTTPS_SERVER', 'http://www.viciado.net');
define('HTTP_CATALOG_SERVER', 'http://www.viciado.net');
define('HTTPS_CATALOG_SERVER', 'http://www.viciado.net');

This was done to make sure that things would always point to a non-ssl contection.

IE - Goes into never ending loading loop.
Firefox - Redirect Loop

Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.

The browser has stopped trying to retrieve the requested item. The site is redirecting the request in a way that will never complete.

I of course have no idea what is happening, it makes absolutely no sense to me but from what I've read it's a PHP problem. I don't know PHP at all this is actually my first time using it. Any help in getting this resolved would be greatly appreciated.

Perhaps it's trying to redirect you to the SSL version, which is defined as a regular HTTP server, which it notices isn't the SSL version, and keeps trying to perform the redirection to an SSL page.

Did you know Abyss can handle SSL connections? That would probably be the easiest way to solve your problem.

Yes I do know it can handle SSL, I don't have a cert installed and I've tried it both ways. I have SSL turned off in Zen-Cart. It is acting like and old bug in PHP 2.4. something that caused this problem.

Again I'm not the first person with this problem. I'd just like to know what other people did to solve the problem. It's got to be something simple in the PHP redirection. I just don't know enough about PHP to correct the problem. I also don't know if it's a on the PHP page problem or in the PHP engine or possibly a config problem. I've still been searching for a solution with no luck so far.

Now this is odd. I installed PrestaShop, another PHP shopping cart and it is having the same issues. The error it throws is

- Server:
PrestaAdministration/login.php/PrestaAdministration/login.php

- Browser:
\PrestaAdministration\login.php

It's got to have something to do with PHP. I'm just wondering what it could be.

Yeah, I've had this problem before with MODx and I was able to fix this infinite loop. Try enabling cookies for your domain.

It is mentioned by him that he has made a change to the configuration file during its installation. I would like to know more about it because most probably that change is causing the problem. The rest of the process looks okay. I would request him to make a detailed post detailing the change that he made. I would like to point out that there is no reason for him to be worried. We will be able to rectify the error soon.
